home - products, automotive products - classification system
Here at IMPACTA we utilise our own, ‘in-house defined’ Classification system for automotive components. This classification enables our designers and engineers to make a judgement upon the nature and design of a suitable packaging system. The ‘3 tier-system classifies components according to its suseptability to damage - either ‘physical’ or ‘aesthestic’.
These components are very susceptible to damage. They normally have aesthetic
value, and generally have a surface finish that is on show. Examples are:
1 - Internal ‘A’ Pillar cover with a plastic moulded surface finish.
2 - Bumper with painted surface finish.
These components are also susceptible to damage and may have some aesthetic
importance; unlike class-A components they are often not on-view. Examples are:
1 - Battery compartment cover (plastic).
2 - Pressed-steel bonnet (prior to surface finishing).
These components are NOT highly susceptible to damage under normal handling
situations. Handling solutions are normally of a more robust nature. Examples are:
1 - Metal cast components such as suspension arm
2 - Formed metal component i.e anti-roll bar.
